Performance Test Laboratory (PTL) is engaged in three aspects of equipment development. The areas are design, documentation and validation. The primary components of specialty are pumps, fans and compact heat exchangers. The aerospace industry is our largest customer base. The petroleum and refining industries comprise the rest of the business.
We specialize in the design of compact plate/fin heat exchangers and compact shell and tube heat exchangers. We work with customers to define the requirements, the envelope and performance characteristics. Duct design and fan and pump selection to match the application are all considered in the design process. We are involved in some research and development of advanced heat transfer surfaces and enhanced tube design.
We can completely document the design starting with conceptual sketches, to a full set of engineering and manufacturing drawings. We can provide the process and procedures to validate the units performance. PTL will work with a manufacturer to optimize the manufacturing process and develop the product to a first article. If a customer prefers to have the testing in-house, PTL can design and build the testing stations required to meet the specifications.
Testing the performance of the component is the ultimate validation of the design. PTL can deliver a completely qualified unit including shock, vibration, environmental testing and performance. We use specialized facilities for shock, vibration and environmental testing.
Testing services include:
Pneumatic and hydraulic pressure testing ( static and cyclic);
Production testing of heat exchangers for pressure drop (both liquid and air);
Component overhaul verification and testing;
PMA/STC validation tests;
Valve testing for leakage and cracking pressure.
